THE TEAM

Built by practitioners.

G23 Capital is a small team by design. The people who build the research are the people who run the capital.

Michael Caveney

Co-Founder · Portfolio Manager

Michael leads portfolio strategy at G23 Capital, where he is responsible for translating the firm's research into positioned, risk-managed capital. A twenty-year market veteran, he pairs a combination of training — a BS in Chemistry from Vanderbilt University and an MBA in Finance from University of Miami — that shapes how he invests: hypothesis first, evidence second, conviction last.

Since founding G23 in 2020, he has built the firm's portfolio framework around a simple discipline: quantitative models earn their place by surviving scrutiny, and positions earn their size by surviving stress.

When markets close, you'll find him sailing or fishing off South Florida.

Philip Winn

Co-Founder · Quantitative Research

Philip leads quantitative research at G23 Capital, building the models that turn raw market data into signals the firm is willing to defend. He holds an MBA from the University of Miami and a BS in Applied Economics from University of Rhode Island, and brings to G23 the harder discipline behind the tools: knowing which models to trust, which to discard, and how to tell the difference before capital is at risk.

Before turning his full attention to markets, Philip spent years designing forecasting and machine-learning systems that large, complex operations relied on to allocate capital and price risk — building the models that separated genuine profitability from the appearance of it. That discipline defines how he approaches the firm's models today: a signal earns trust by being right for the right reasons, and by proving it continuously against live markets, not a backtest.

Away from the screens he goes deeper still — a free diver, an Ironman 70.3 finisher, and a golfer perpetually one adjustment away from the perfect swing.
